This is a fully remote position with an Austin-based SaaS startup rapidly growing within the hospitality tech industry. Our client's mobile application provides guests with a virtual check-in, improves guest experience, and helps hotel operations with managing the front of the house. It allows self-check-in without stopping at the front desk, offers options to upgrade the room, stay, bring keyless entry to the actual room, order room service with a tap & more.

About the Role:

The Director of Design is responsible for designing innovative, best-in-class solutions across mobile, web, and Kiosk platforms and building exceptional digital experiences for our clients. The Director of Design advocates for the clients who use our products as well as the members of their teams.

About You:

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Design and an experienced visionary who will be responsible for elevating end-to-end client experiences across all platforms. The Director of Design is driven by data to deliver business outcomes and is committed to leading the creation of elegantly designed simple user experiences from otherwise complex workflows.

Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Leadership: Defining the long-term vision and strategy for user experience design, aligning it with business objectives and goals. They establish design principles, guidelines, and best practices to guide the development of user-centered products and services.
    • Team Management: Leading and managing a team of UX professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. They ensure the team’s collaboration, growth, and adherence to design processes and methodologies.
    • User Research and Insights: Overseeing user research activities to gain a deep understanding of user needs, behaviors, and motivations. They utilize research findings to inform design decisions and validate design solutions.
    • UX Design and Prototyping: Providing expertise in user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and information architecture. They oversee the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs to communicate and test design concepts.
    • Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, to ensure alignment and a shared understanding of user experience goals.
    • Usability Testing and Evaluation: Developing and implementing usability testing strategies to validate design decisions and uncover areas for improvement. They analyze user feedback and metrics to drive continuous improvement in the user experience.
    • Industry Awareness: Staying up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in user experience design. They provide thought leadership and guidance on emerging UX trends and innovations.

    Qualifications

    • 8+ years of experience in leading design, product management, user experience design, innovation, or corporate strategy roles, driving digital transformation and delivering world-class experiences
    • Referenceable portfolio of digital experiences/products that drove consumer engagement, behavior and loyalty, as well as experience designing artificial intelligence-powered experiences
    • Referenceable success designing market and user experience research to inform business strategy, product strategy and/or experience strategy
    • Experience developing and executing the strategy and roadmap for complex software products with both consumer and back office touchpoints
    • Ability to effectively codify and communicate business, user experience and product requirements, creating a bridge to technology implementation and engineering teams
    • Experience in creating processes and driving solutions that continually improve the customer experience and support a customer-first mindset
    • Demonstrated ability to excel in an innovative, startup-like, fast-paced environment, with rapid exploration and ability to execute
    • Experience in leading teams through an agile/scrum process
    • Demonstrable success in managing and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization vertically and horizontally
    • Demonstrable success leading multiple high-impact, cross-functional projects simultaneously with can-do attitude and proactively determine creative solutions
    • People leadership and management experience, inspiring confidence and action in teams and executives
    • Executive-level communication and presentation skills
    • Experience working in a regulated healthcare environment a plus
