This is a fully remote position with an Austin-based startup that is growing rapidly within the hospitality tech industry.
A mobile app that provides guests with a virtual check-in and improved guest experience. It allows self-check-in without stopping at the front desk, provides options to upgrade the room/stay, keyless entry to the actual room, order room service with a tap & more.
Growing rapidly, onboarding new clients (hotels) in the US & worldwide.
Position Overview
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who combines strong leadership with hands-on software development skills. This role requires not only managing and mentoring engineering teams but also actively contributing code and driving technical excellence. If you thrive in both leading teams and shipping quality software yourself, this is the role for you.
Key Qualifications

7+ years software development experience with JavaScript/Node.js or related stack

3+ years managing software development teams

Demonstrated ability to write production-quality code and contribute actively as an individual contributor

Experience working in Agile Scrum environments (2-3 years minimum)

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience

Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and modern engineering best practices

Proven skills in team leadership, mentoring, coaching, and performance management

Comfortable giving constructive feedback and handling challenging conversations

Ability to balance coding responsibilities with management duties
Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and coach a distributed team of engineers at various experience levels

Actively contribute to the codebase, participate in design discussions, and drive technical decisions

Collaborate closely with the CTO to align engineering efforts with architectural vision and business goals

Ensure delivery of high-quality, maintainable software while maintaining a focus on velocity and efficiency

Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to uphold strong Agile practices and optimize team performance

Foster a positive and growth-oriented team culture that encourages accountability, passion, and continuous learning

Develop and support career growth plans for engineers and QA team members

Balance hands-on coding with managerial responsibilities, setting an example for technical excellence
